About
George Mason University’s experienced health services researchers have been an integral part of national and state-level health workforce studies for more than a decade. More recently the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation asked Mason to develop a program evaluation of their signature initiative, Claude Moore Scholars Program, to expand Career and Technical Education programs in health sciences. The research includes and state-wide health workforce analysis to support the Foundations strategic initiative to deploy the Scholars program across the commonwealth.
The mission of Mason health workforce team is to provide information that informs health workforce planners, both public and private, and economic development initiatives across the commonwealth of Virginia. The research supports decision makers at local, regional, and state level and in multiple sectors of the health industry, government, and education. The aim of this research is to assist health, professional, and educational organizations, and other stakeholders to understand issues related to the supply, demand, distribution, and use of health workers.
Participating teams had less than 24 hours to develop a solution to address the issues presented in the case, which focused on challenges associated with health equity, Medicaid, and telehealth. The rules required each team work independently, without assistance from faculty coaches, to develop a recommended intervention to make health care more accessible to underrepresented populations. Groups participated in two rounds of live presentations the following day.
