Introduction to Mortuary Science (8354)

Introduction to Mortuary Science explores the profession of mortuary science as it relates to embalmers, funeral attendants, funeral directors, and morticians. The content includes but is not limited to techniques of embalming and restorative art, mortuary administration, funeral law, public health, and sanitation. Students will be guided through simulated labs regarding the administrative and technological field of mortuary science.

As noted in Superintendent’s Memo #058-17 (2-28-2017), this Career and Technical Education (CTE) course must maintain a maximum pupil-to-teacher ratio of 20 students to one teacher, due to safety regulations. The 2016-2018 biennial budget waiver of the teacher-to-pupil ratio staffing requirement does not apply.
