Respiratory Therapy I (8372)

Students acquire basic knowledge of the respiratory therapy field, with a focus on the role and importance of respiratory therapy in patient care. Instruction includes an introduction to the
3 healthcare field, as well as basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and disease processes; equipment; safety; essentials of patient care; and legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities. The course also emphasizes critical thinking skills and career opportunities in the field of respiratory therapy. Mastery of the material in this course would provide students with a strong background should they wish to pursue certification in areas such as first aid, CPR, or AED.
